It all began with a modest Craft Bazaar held by Westminster Canterbury Richmond residents in 1979. Now in its 33rd year, the Unique Boutique’s Fall Craft Fair has grown into a community tradition.
Over two days last weekend, 1,179 visitors came, saw and shopped. Thirty-six vendors participated this year, including woodworkers, potters, jewelers, weavers, bakers, knitters and crafters. The quantity and quality of the wares were stunning. The shoppers and vendors agreed, rarely is Christmas shopping – and selling – so easy and so much fun!
This amazing craft fair is just one of several fundraising events held each year by the Unique Boutique Committee. The Committee, led by six dedicated residents and a staff liaison, volunteer not only their time and energy to organize, publicize and man the events but also donate handcrafted items for sale through the Unique Boutique Showcase.
Each year this enthusiastic group raises several thousand dollars for donation to the Annual Fellowship Fund. Vendors from the Craft Fair happily passed along 20 percent of their earnings. A total of $5,406.87 was raised from this year’s fair.
We sincerely thank all the resident and staff volunteers, shoppers, and crafters who make this yearly event so successful and enjoyable.
